Why do we love working with Greyhounds?
Sandown Vet Clinic was established around 50 years ago by the Sandown Greyhound Racing Club to care for racing greyhounds.
They are perfect patients - goofy, loving, placid, and a genuine pleasure to work with.
Our current clinic leadership has worked in the greyhound industry for nearly 30 years to improve the welfare of ALL gorgeous greys. They love to run and we love to see happy dogs.
Melanie Tochner and Anita Smith, two of our long term nursing staff, founded the Greyhound Adoption Program in the mid 90's to raise the awareness of greys making perfect pets and expand the options for greyhounds post racing. Since then, we have supported many adoption groups including the Greyhound Safety Net, Racing to Rehome and Gippland Greys to rehome these canine athletes after racing.
We love caring for all greyhounds from birth all the way through to when they are no longer up for senior zoomies.
It is an honor and privelage working with this gentle, kind and noble breed.
