Preventative Care.

Our healthcare team can assist you with education, advice and care to ensure your pet has the happiest and healthiest life possible. We provide a full range of medical facilities for the diagnosis and treatment of dogs and cats.

Vaccinations

Vaccination has revolutionised control of infectious disease in our pets. It is essential that all pets are adequately vaccinated to help protect the pet population as a whole. Responsible pet care requires puppies to be given their initial course of vaccinations, but this cannot protect them for the rest of their lives. Adult dogs and cats require regular vaccination to maintain immunity against disease.

What are Parasites?

A parasite is an organism that lives on or in a host and gets its food from or at the expense of its host. For our pets, this can include fleas, ticks, heartworm and intestinal worms.

Dentistry

Just like humans, pets’ teeth need looking after too! The health of their teeth and gum's has a significant impact on their overall quality of life. Imagine how your mouth would feel, and smell, if you never brushed your teeth. Imagine having a really bad toothache and not being able to tell anyone about it!

Microchipping

A microchip is about the size of a grain of rice and is injected under your pet’s skin. It can be done during a normal consultation. The microchip is embedded with a code unique to your pet and is the most effective form of permanent identification. This code is placed onto a national computer database, so it is particularly useful in the return of lost pets. They can also assist where the ownership of an animal is in dispute. In some states of Australia microchipping of pets is now compulsory.

Reproductive Technology Services & Breeder Support.

For almost 20 years now we have had enormous success with the surgical implantation of frozen semen. There is some preparation that helps enhance the success of your investment.

Semen evaluation and freezing

Surgical implantation

This technique involves a general anesthetic and surgery with associated risks. An incision is made into the abdomen, the uterus is then identified and semen is then injected directly into the uterine horns.

Please get in touch with our reproduction coordinator, Mel, for more information about this procedure and what is required.

Litter vaccinations

First vaccinations typically begin at 6-8 weeks of age.

Ultrasound

We can perform a pregnancy ultrasound examination at 28 days after mating to determine pregnancy, assess viability and estimate number of foetuses.

Caesarean section

We offer elective Caesarean sections Monday to Saturday.

Please note, we do not perform c-sections on Sundays or Public Holidays- the clinic is closed. We advise that you always have a 'plan B' and go to your nearest emergency clinic.

Breeding management

Our reproduction co-ordinator, Mel, has a wealth of knowledge and can help you at every step of the way.

Small Animal Medicine & Surgical Services.

In addition to sports medicine and reproductive technologies, we also cater to the more generalised side of veterinary care ranging from routine desexing and dental procedures to canine and feline medicine.

Pathology

Our hospital is equipped with the latest laboratory equipment which allows our veterinarians to perform a range of diagnostic tests to achieve accurate, fast diagnoses.

Common laboratory tests include blood tests, urinalysis, faecal tests, and biopsy examination.

In some cases, specialised tests may need to be sent and performed by an external veterinary laboratory such as Clinical Labs or IDEXX Labs. The results of these tests can take a little bit longer to receive compared to in-house testing.

Radiology

Our hospital is fully equipped to take radiographs (often called X-rays) of your pet.

Our veterinarians will discuss your pet’s case and conduct a thorough physical examination to determine if your pet requires radiographs.

Radiographs are a very important tool to help us diagnose diseases in animals, particularly for conditions involving bones, the chest or abdomen.

Desexing

Desexing or neutering your pet is a surgical procedure that prevents them from being able to reproduce.

In male pets it is commonly referred to as “castration”, and in female pets as “speying”.

This is the most frequent surgery performed by our vets, and generally your pet is home by the evening of surgery. The most common age to desex your pet is between 4 and 6 months, however they are never too old to be desexed!

Orthopaedic Surgery
